What We Do

Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter was so appreciative of the $5000.00 grant from ALOB to help treat heartworm positive dogs. This treatment ultimately helps dogs get adopted! What a great way to save lives and get animals into “fur-ever” homes.

An annual tradition for ALOB is to participate in World Spay Day. 2019 had ALOB partnering with Mercy Animal Hospital in Gardendale and Friends of cats and Dogs Foundation to provide low cost spay/neuters to pets of veterans. Just one way to salute those who serve!

The Bessemer area was treated to a Pet Wellness Fair after ALOB received a grant from the Remy Foundation (Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham) where they were treated to free pet items such as leashes, bowls, toys etc., informational pet health sessions and a hot dog lunch. Residents were also offered several months of weekly shot clinics where residents could get additional support for the health of their pets such as free rabies vaccinations, flea/tick treatments, deworming and $10 spay/neuter surgeries. ALOB also added additional funding to continue spay/neuter efforts in the area.

ALOB has provided hundreds of cozy kitty houses for a small donation to keep community cats warm through the winter. People from all over the Birmingham area reach out so they can care for our furry felines! What a beautiful world we live in!

ALOB purchased food barrels for The Shelby Humane Society so they could keep plenty of fresh food for all the precious pups waiting to start a new life in a loving home!
